I'm wondering what one of these cards are going to be better. I checked the benchmarks on here and the 7900 XTX is only a few FPS difference from the 9070 XT (barely noticeable), but it also has 24 GB so I don't know if that will make much difference. The 7900 XTX is $200 more on Amazon.

I owned the hellhound 7900xtx. I finally have ended up with an AsRock Steel Legend 9070xt.

Here’s the deal. The 7900xtx is a beast of a card no question. It has raw horsepower.

The 9070xt isn’t quite as powerful, however it does better with ray tracing and upscaling since it has fsr 4.

It’s hard to go wrong with either one but I would say to you that ray tracing is starting to be required in some of the newer games. Expect that to continue. The other thing is fsr4. Say what you want, but upscaling is starting to be more of a thing like it or not. The 9070xt wins here as well.

Think of it in these terms. The 7900xtx is like an old American muscle car with a big v8 engine that goes fast in a straight line. The 9070xt is more like a fast modern sports car. Not quite as fast as the older muscle car, but it has more features and bells and whistles.

There are rumors that the 7000 series cards will get fsr4. Perhaps but I don’t think that’s been confirmed. If they do release fsr4 on older cards they may release an fsr 3.5 or a cut down fsr4. But we don’t know.

Especially with the 7900xtx being 200 more, I’d get the 9070xt. It’s not that the 7900xtx is a bad card, but the 9070xt isn’t a slouch by any means. And you may find in the future that the ray tracing performance and upscaling may make more difference in performance. Plus the 9070xt is newer, so if you’re keeping the card long term, the 9070xt will ultimately be supported longer most likely.

I was considering getting a 9070XT that's on average 70% faster than my 7700XT. Just can't decide which model. Hellhound is close to MSRP here, though i heard the cooler of Powercolor doesn't cover the RAM as well as other models and it gets hotter that average. The only models i won't be touching are those with the 12VHPC

I was faced with a similar choice and went with the 9070 xt. The better ray tracing and fsr4 support make it an easy choice. 7900xtx can beat 9070 xt in some titles in rasterization but the GPUs are pretty close. I don't the extra 8 gb of vram will play a role in the life span of these cards.

There's rumors floating around that a 9080XT 24GB and a 9090XT 32GB may be released later. Officially, AMD said they will target low and mid range this gen but leaks say the chips for bigger cards exist and could be sold if they think there is a viable market demand.
