This is quoted from my post on Windows 11 for contex

"My Wife did a windows update on her PC, (Update and shut down) but after when she booted her pc the next time it wont boot into windows. On trying to repair the current instillation of windows it states it cannot detect windows, I tried a few more things like reverting updated in which I successfully rolled back the quality update, it would not let me roll back the features update.

I then tried a clean install of Windows 11. Got the USB stick with the windows media on it, proceeded until it told me my PC didn't meet the specs to run in which that is false because it ran it for about a year now

I went as far as resetting the CMOS battery and tried some steps again but no use

I have a spare SSD fresh outta the box, so before I try to boot a new version of windows on that, I figured id get some tips from you fine folks.

I'm assuming windows is corrupt or the SSD is? I certainly hope its not the motherboard.

Thank you

Aorus B550 Elite
Rx 6750xt
Ryzen 7 5950x I think, would have to double check
32 Gb ram"

So I went down a rabbit hole, I feel like I exhausted all my recourses trying so much to figure this out. My final step was to install a whole new SSD as I just had a spare on hand, but to no avail it still don't want to accept windows 11 again even though that's what the system had prior to the update that caused this. Says something along the lines that the PC isn't compatible. Is the motherboard just done for? perhaps something just died on it? I can boot to bios all day long. Tried making a bootable drive using Rufus but when I get as far as picking a drive for windows, the drives just don't show up. I'm out of ideas and up for more! I would also like to add that Rufus wanted me to make a bootable drive for a legacy BIOS as it did not accept the GPT format.

ANOTHER update lol, bypassed the the requirements for windows 11 and got into Windows finally! done its updates aaaaaand the same thing. RIP still any help will be great

Thank you!

Did you make sure that UEFI and TPM are enabled in BIOS ? Otherwise your system is fully compatible with W11. No need for Rufus, just use Microsoft Media Creation Tool to download W11 and make a bootable USB.

PS: You might want to update BIOS to last version if it's not now,

Thanks for the reply! Tpm and UEFI are enabled in bios, and I did try the original media tool to begin with but that's when I was running into compatibility errors. And I also did update to the latest BIOS

Which kind of ssd drives ? SATA/NVME ? Only one drive connected ?
PS. Try w10, it's same license and you can upgrade to W11 straight from it .
They are actually the segate 2tb Star wars lightsaber ones, at this moment only 1 SSD is in at a time and always has been. However if I can get windows 10 without a issue, I fear upgrading I'll be in the same boat because I managed to do a clean install of windows 11 last night using ventoy, however when windows was doing its initial updates and did a reboot to apply, I ran into the exact same issue

There could be a problem with drivers. If you get W11 to run at all, stop any updates and install drivers directly from respective part manufacturers starting with chipset.

This might just be a wild solution, but would the purchase and instillation of a new Motherboard be a solution out of this? The problem is happening on my wife's right and I built hers pretty much identical to mine, same motherboard too, just mine is not having this issue

I also did update to the latest BIOS
Sometimes when I update a BIOS, it changes some of my settings, e.g. Virtualization. Until I work out what it's clobbered, certain bits don't work.

Tpm and UEFI are enabled in bios,
Is Secure Boot enabled in BIOS (only possible with CSM is set to disabled). The BIOS update might have switched Secure Boot off.

Wouldn't be the root of the problem tho however I will check it, I only updated the bios after this issue arised, now weather or not the windows update messed with it, I can check. I'll check out the board a bit for these settings.

Tpm 2.0 shows CRB?

And I made sure secure boot was on still nothing

I had to look this one up and I'm still none the wiser, because I keep TPM switched off to stop Windows 11 from potentially over-writing my Windows 10 builds. I know I should be using Secure Boot and TPM in Windows 10, but some of my systems contain older operating systems and it's a pain to enter the BIOS and disable security. My own fault if the PC is hit by a virus.

It's "Command Response Buffer".

My old motherboards have headers for a small proprietary printed circuit board containing a TPM integrated circuit. Modern Intel and AMD processors have fTPM built into the CPU, so you don't need a separate TPM module. You do however need to enable fTPM in your Ryzen if you want to install bog standard Windows 11.

This link might help you to check if your BIOS is set to enable fTPM in your 5950X.

I done some more testing last night, swapped my ram and CPU into the wife's rig, my ram is identical to hers, but my CPU is a different model, ryzen 7 5600x I believe? But her issue still remains, gonna read the articles you sent me see if I can find any lee way. Thank you for your reply too!

i know you said you checked "cms" mode" did you reverse it, and "legacy mode" and not "uefi mode" i had exact same issue, and changing the setting from 1 to the other was the fault. , i just installed windows from scratch using their uefi and secure boot settings on a seperate drive. . and then re installed my programmes, and , attached my old drive (,and copied saves files and stuff to the new one. . it can be a pain.
