News Compact Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink eGPU flaunts RTX 4090 Laptop GPU

This is also an alternative for adding ai cuda processing to mac computers. Just saying... I would prefer an AMD one with a software equivalent to the cuda... but the rocm stack still needs to improve quite a bit...

But then, both of them are not exactly the pristine UX that people think they are, even if cuda wins for now.

Curious to know of the cheapest and easiest way to simply use a desktop GPU into an external general laptop docking style station.

I have seen a few on Amazon that seem to use Thunderbolt. Such as a Thunderbolt 4 with a PSU spot and a GPU section for a couple hundred dollars.

As many of us have decent laptops with not so decent GPUs in them. Yet, they are slender, much cheaper, much less burning, more adult and much cheaper than the gaming variants. Yet, I have a 2080 ti sitting in a box not doing anything and a PSU for the last 3 years. While, my normal PC has a rtx 4090 for the last 2.5 years..

I am currently in bed, where I have my TV. Be quite nice to have a portable light little quick plug to use much quicker desktop GPUs in a quick, cheap and dirty and always upgradable when ever you want a new GPU solution.

Heck, a PSU & GPU with a little base a thunderbolt 4/5 type plug with the laptop external base would be great from bringing back a LAN or gathering.. or when you are staying in a hotel, or just not around your desktop PC but want to play games on your Steam and PC Game Pass library.
